Assalamu alaykum - this is a standard salutation greeting among Muslims means "peace be upon you". As you noticed, my previous post is all about Chinese Temples and now, I am sharing with you this old Mosque I visited in Kuala Lumpur.
My sister and I visited Masjid Jamek located at the confluence of the Klang and Gombak River and may be accessed via Jalan Tun Perak. The work Jamek is the Malay equivalent of the Arabic word meaning a place where people congregate to worship. Locals also referred this word as "Friday Mosque".
When you enter the main gate, you will easily notice a table where different leaflets are organized. One tour guide is equal to 6-8 tourists. Tour guides are free, but of course, giving tips is okay. *wink*
You will be given a red robe with a hood for the head to cover you up, and you require taking off your shoes before entering the Mosque.
Locals say you must visit it at night as there is a light setting and unique fountain - best for photos. I recommend the shops along the road where you can purchase scarves and modest clothing.

I was so amazed with the interior since this is my first time to go inside the mosque. It has a beautiful architecture, and the place is so clean. Be quiet when you enter the prayer halls as some of Muslim are praying.

How to get to Masjid Jamek
- Take the KL-Monorail to Hang Tuah Station. From there, transfer to the Star LRT and you will reach the Masjid Jamek station, which is situated a stone away from the mosque.
Things to remember
- Dress properly
- Wear shoes you can easily remove before entering the prayer halls
- Be quiet
